The 8th Era – A few formal statements

GSA-Gold

In light of recent events, a few formal statements must be made. There’s alot to cover, and I’m going to do my best inform of these changes.

As of August 27th, 2017 Jeep has stepped down as the leader of GSA and retired, for personal reasons, and has passed leadership down to me. Him, and many other have put their faith into me, and I intend to take this position proudly and to not let anyone down. But I can’t do this alone. Everyone needs to contribute to GSA, and luckily I have support in this. But everyone has a part to play, and by their very nature, the changes we need to make require all of us to do our part.

Activity has dwindled for years now, and truly has been since the death of EKAT and a wide spread loss of interest and excitement. While we can’t quite return to how things were, we can get our community back up to a point of excitement and activity, keeping new members engaged in activity and forming the kinds of bonds we did when we were new to this community.

Ultimately our goal is to get back that golden part of those days. I’ve been with GSA for years now, starting from the bottom, and that experience has formed unshakable bonds between our members. The best thing we can do is to provide that kind of community again for our newcomers.

A few changes needed to be made. I’ll state some of what has been done so far, and some of what we still need. This is not necessarily complete, simply for practicality, and that alot must still be considered.

The rules page has been updated, but we still need to do more. Ultimately our laws have become too loose to serve as a proper system in many cases, and while this was intended in older reforms, it has failed. While we should not crowd the page with countless laws specific to a game we no longer play or to systems we no longer use, we do need to know a defined and precise time to take action when needed, and how to deal with issues.

Menus have been reorganized, and close to final. More changes will likely be made, though. Priority has been placed on more important pages, and less demanding info has been moved back into archives.

The banned list has had some fixed. Old entries unlawfully removed were restored, and in light of recent events some new have been added.

The staff is being worked on, revised and put together to work as a new team. Together, we’ll be making the changes we need, and taking feedback from all the community. I’m working to make sure all of our staff are active and cooperating for the better of GSA. A more official announcement will be made, once I have assembled the team fully.

And as a formal declaration, for the case of history being recorded, I declare now that July of 2017 is the start of the 8th era of GSA history.

It was then that we truly started improving the clan and aiming to make us a better community. With the changes of this week, this turn of history is cemented.

Additionally, Jeep has most certainly earned an immortal place on the wall of fame for his service as one of the best leaders GSA has seen in all it’s history.

If anyone would like to dispute the changes made, please take it up with me. We can all make this work, and feedback is important.

Hoping to serve you well ~

Administration shakeup. [Expired]

This is a post where the people will choose whether or not to oust current member of the Administration team. Please comment below with a “+” to keep the desired person in their current office, or a “-” to oust them in favor of someone new. Do this for every person listed, not just one or two. Those who are ousted will likely be made moderators. Also, I will moderate this post. So if everyone else could let it be so that there’s no confusion or double counted posts, that would be much appreciated.

Updated laws page + Updated laws & regs

Halo5-GSA

I was looking over the laws page, and it came to my attention that it needed a few touch ups. I did a general check for any errors and fixed any small thing I found, and also made some additions.

As follows is the previous state of the page; (Note that only text color is changed. Notes will be present.)

History of GSA

GSA has a truly long and varied history. We have now persisted for six years, and have had hundreds of people join our clan and leave. Over the years, dozens of those people influenced our history and shaped us into the clan that we are today. We might look back and laugh at certain melodramatic moments, but we cannot deny that those occurred, and we must document them in one permanent location for future members of GSA to see. In order to do this, I have decided to create a comprehensive record of GSA’s history, whose process will be divided into three steps:

Step One: Gathering the History

This is to be done with the help of our current membership and also past membership. No one person, however long they have been in the clan, can possibly remember all of the things that have occurred in it, so this is necessarily a group effort. If you have any good facts that may be obscure, please post them in the comments below.

Sadly, many of our old websites have been lost to time, but I managed to save a few and compile them into what I call the “GSA Archive”. I will look through this archive and use it for this compilation.

Step Two: Writing the History

While the facts alone are interesting, to an outside observer they are confusing. A lot of explanatory writing will have to be done in order  for the work to be coherent to members with no knowledge of our history.

Step Three: Publishing the History

The history will be split up into seven eras (subject to change) based on the evidence I currently have. Each era will be split up into separate entries and will be published both on the main page and on its own History page. You are welcome to criticize them as they are published and amendments will be made accordingly.

To conclude,

GSA deserves a record of its history not just for its future members, but also for its past members who spent so much time trying to improve their clan. It would be a tragedy if all of their efforts went unrecognized and forgotten. I hope that this will suffice.

Time to work.

As you all should know by now, we have moved from Plazma Burst 2, and are now considered something of a gaming community. While this is likely to have been a good move on our part, it cannot last without a certain amount of effort being put into it. We may be “alive” for now, but if we don’t keep an influx of players joining, we will never survive beyond our clan generation. If we are to continue to thrive beyond this recent period of expansion, we need to put in the work required for it. Every able body needs to be doing something to recruit. Enter games, and invite some people to check us out. Most of our current members are elders in game-terms. We need a next generation to come in and learn to lead, so that we may be replaced when the time comes.

I don’t know about you all, but I don’t intend to be the one in charge when GSA finally goes out. That day will not be today, and it will not be any time that I lead. I will not be the leader that fails the GSA and the leaders before me. If you want the same thing, then I suggest the work begin. Old rivalries or enemies need to be forgiven. Old grudges need to be let go. I don’t want to wait for the last minute to go crazy recruiting. Let’s start now and never get to that point. We need to get to work if we are to survive.

Not good enough.

Tomorrow marks the two month mark since beginning our reforms. So far, we have done well, keeping a steady pace, organizing everything. We’ve completed the first step, and we are on the way to achieving our goal.

We’ve made progress, and we’re over the hard part. We’ve gotten started.

We’re not doing good enough though. We have set up enough to function well, but we cannot become complacent. We have alot of work to do. We need to stay active, start recruiting, and keeping busy together.

Complacency will drag us back into what we have been working to escape, and we cannot let it set in. Don’t be happy with the way things are. Work to make them better, and to fully realize the community we have come so far to achieve.

If we continue our efforts without complacency, without laziness and stagnancy, we’ll finally return to a golden age.

So don’t be complacent. We have a long ways to go, GSA.

The Plan.

The plan as it stands, is as follows:

1. Go through the site and renovate it. Removing anything that is strictly pb2 roleplay based. Including renovation of the laws and the removal of laws that will no longer apply to us in our new expansion.

2. Attempt to expand into as many gaming communities as possible without over-exerting ourselves. This means we play games together on steam, in-browser, and even on console. Anything and everything.

3. Divide the members list into 3 sub categories, those of us whom play In-browser, the ones who play console, and the ones who play the steam/download games. (Keep in mind that the Administrators have authority over all of these groups, even if they don’t play in that group very often. If you’re in GSA, then you are subject to GSA government.)

Please give feedback. If insufficient complaints are received, then this will become set in stone.

Important vote

It has come to my attention that Pzk was NOT put in charge of GSA after Banana’s departure. Which is what many of us were led to believe, and many of the changes that Pzk has created were not properly voted on. Banana told him to collaborate with the Founder’s Group to change GSA, and to help move us to steam. Not to remove power from the leaders on Discord and go crazy with changing everything without proper voting. Unfortunately Banana is being a jerk about staying around to help figure this out and Pzk isn’t around for a while either. But I know how we work, and if we don’t act now, we’ll never act. We’re lazy. So this vote is created in collaberation with multiple other GSA members. We want to remove Pzk from absolute power in Discord, and name an official leader that Pzk needs to answer to (He was never voted as leader). Pzk will still be allowed to keep in charge our move to steam as Banana originally ordered, as that was voted on. But more in depth changes must be voted on before they can be  established.

Vote for Night, Jeep, or Pzk to receive/keep the adminship on chat and head leadership of the clan.

Jeep (7)

Pzk (1)

Night (2)

Vote will end on the 16th

Final Vote

GSA has reached an ultimatum. There are two options.

[POLL CLOSED] Option 1 has won.

1. Make GSA a gaming clan.

  • We will renovate ranks.
  • We will become serious on Steam.

2. Keep GSA as a roleplaying clan.

  • We will die off slowly.
  • We will keep the site and current ranks.
  • We will be as lazy as ever.

Gaming Clan: 7 Votes

Roleplaying Clan: 0 Votes

Pzk needs to set an end date for the vote, as per vote regulations.
