New Promotion Guidelines Idea [IMPORTANT]

Since the style and system of promotion guidelines is a greatly disputed one, I have an idea that I wish to bring into the light on a new promotion system. There will undoubtedly be details to iron out, so I suggest that you comment on this post, and quickly so we may concentrate on Cyclix.

Having a period-based promotion system in my opinion is incorrect. A more merit-based system would be advisable in my opinion, for two main reasons:

1. If we were to use a period-based system, say, every 2 weeks you can apply for a promotion, the promoter will always feel like he/she has an obligation to promote somebody, so it doesn’t become a sort of conflict or distaste if the member is not promoted. For example, if I were to not promote somebody in a test, then they may be a bit more hostile or distasteful of me, and this is why many of the FG including me (its ok to admit this,) are very pressured to promote somebody even if they aren’t completely deserving of this.

2. In the real military or any other system, including the old system that the GSA used back in 2011-2012, people were promoted based on their dedication and work. If a member acts exceptionally and goes above and beyond the call of duty, then they deserve to be promoted. Using this older system will propel members to try and do their very best, instead of waiting for their “promotion appointment” every 2 weeks or so instead. This is what Bravo was trying to create with his system, however only the FG were allowed to recommend somebody for promotion.

Therefore, I have a compromise.

All members with military authority from the ranks Brigadier General or Higher, (This mean Vice President, President, Marshall, FG members, etc.) have the ability to promote the member, if the member performs exceptionally or goes above and beyond the call of duty.

This removes the need for everybody to swarm and overload the FG with promotion requests, it also removes the need for a “promotion appointment” every 2 weeks or so.

However, I agree that since these people who have the ability to promote will not look at people to promote all of the time, we will make a post every 2 weeks in which these high ranking members will consider and review other members and come up with people to promote, and these high ranking officers will post any promotions they wish to happen to members, if any.

A large amount of this new system is trust between higher ranking officers. If you are given a rank of Brigadier General or higher, you are expected to perform your promotion duties correctly and professionally. This sort of bond of trust is essential in modern day military’s between high ranks. For example, the United States government trusts their generals to not rebel against the United States itself. Generals in the military are extremely powerful and are capable of doing things such as this, but they do not, as there is a bond of trust between them and higher ranked U.S. officials.

HOWEVER, enlisted members are harder to keep track of as officers, and to decrease the workload of promotion reviewing for high ranking officers capable of promotion, I suggest that we incorporate Alexwang’s concept of promotion by map.

For the ranks Recruit to Lieutenant this will only apply:

Recruit: Promoted to Private if he/she passes the Recruit Map Test for Recruits, and recruits 1 member to the GSA.

Private: Promoted to Corporal if he/she passes the Private Map Test for Privates, and recruits 1 member to the GSA.

Corporal: Promoted to Sergeant if he/she passes the Private Map Test for Corporals, and recruits 1 member to the GSA.

Sergeant: Promoted to Lieutenant if he/she passes the Private Map Test for Sergeants, and recruits 1 member to the GSA.

For each of the above ranks, there will be a period of 1 week in which the member has to wait until he/she can pass the next map/test, that way somebody can’t speedily elevate their rank.

The Map Tests will become harder and harder of course, testing the member. The main reason for these map tests is because high ranked members cant focus on all of our members, (we have heck of a lot of members to focus on.) Therefore completing these tests will be satisfactory.

The way that a member will prove that they passed a Private Map Test is yet to be smoothed out. (I will confer with Alexwang.)

THE NEW PROMOTION SYSTEM IN A NUTSHELL:

All members with military authority from the ranks Brigadier General or Higher, (This mean Vice President, President, Marshall, FG members, etc.) have the ability to promote a  member of the GSA from the ranks Lieutenant or Higher, if the member performs exceptionally or goes above and beyond the call of duty. These promotions can be made at any time, however if a high ranking member abuses this power to promote a member very quickly and without reason, then we will investigate it.

A post will be made every 2 weeks for officers to consider and review members of the rank category, and on this post the officers will post members that they will promote. These members, if listed, are promoted.

For the Promotion of  Ranks Recruit to Lieutenant this will apply:

I personally believe, if given a chance, that this promotion system is the most ideal one for the GSA and for any clan in that matter. This system is based off of the old system, and has always been successful. I am suggesting an improved version of this old system. If you disagree with the concept, then please voice your opinion in the comments, and I will see what I can do about changing it!

  1. Seriously. Read it all. The effort I put into it should probably constitute that XD. Anyhow, to truly understand the changes, you have to read it all. Don’t just look at the “nutshell section.”
